Yes, the haze is finally lifted from the little island, and in comes the unpredictable rain.
Its amazing what a tiny shower in the morning can do to the plants.
haven't seen the garden for two month and the plants grew from knee height to almost over my head!
I guess Twissti will have some heavy gardening to attend to! hahah.
But, bring in more rain that's what I'll say.

"You so do not have green fingers!" ... that was what Pelican told me when my newly bought plant totally died on me less than a month after accompanying me for the purchase. Actually this is not the first time this is happening, I've had tonnes of perfectly cultivated plants, well initially, wither and die in our household many times before. Not a person to give up that easily, I went out on Sunday and made another purchase. I just could not resist the bright and inviting green perfectly blended with the pot. Oh well.. lets do pray that it does not die under my nose.. AGAIN!!

What do you do when you intend to start some serious gardening, and heavy rain sets in?
i took my (AA battery thirsty, ancient 2 million mega pixels) digital camera and start taking pictures of what the inhabitants on the house did. But still, nothing beats Sunday gardening...Or just a simple weekend stroll after the rain. Will definitely plant more bonsai the next time if twisstii is game for it.

Took a walk in the park last weekend with Flee when she came over. The weather was perfect for afternoon naps and photography. Perfectly blue skies..dandillions..butterflies, there's still so much nature has to give even though its the same park we've been to numerous times. Every turn and every corner seem to hold new discoveries.

Bonsai Madness Continued

I present...the bonsai that will never need watering, trimming or even sunshine! Actually its a stamp in the likeness of a bonsai...Wouldn't it be a little freaky if real bonsai had eyes and features like this? I recently developed an unhealthy adoration of anything bonsai. It must be that real simple but oh so calm and soothing designs I see in books.

Returned home one day with a whole new revamped garden, to the hard work of Mama Twisstii. Have been bugging her about getting bonsai for way too long. Crossing fingers that this neatness gets maintained. And hey Flee when are we finally going to get bonsai ?

Summer In Tokyo

I was on my way to Harajuku, i decided to take the scenic route passing through Shinjuku Gardens. In the middle of of the garden, there was a special show for local gardeners to showcase their own breed of roses. It was a haven for local rosarians. It was a refreshing find to contrast a concrete jungle like Tokyo.

SPIDER LILY DREAM

Had a dream that me and twisstii went to shop for plant to improve her garden.
And we went around looking for spider lilies in a pot.
However, i'm with her on the bonsai, i think it'll look better for the garden.

Here's my attempt to draw the fierce looking flower

RED SPIDER LILY(LYCORIS RADIATA)
Days after the first fall rains the ground erupts with these bright red flowers made up of many narrow strap-like petals and stamens. The showy display will last for weeks and will get better and better every year. Once the flowers fade the foliage is produced and it persists all winter. It is distinguished by a silver strap down the midrib of each narrow grass-like blade.

Oyster Patties

A Dozen Oysters
One Yam (cut into thin strips)
Two Carrots (cut into thin strips)
Two cups of plain flour
Two Eggs
Half teaspoon of salt for seasoning

Mix all ingredients together to form a thick batter
Fried Batter in high temperature vegatable oil til golden brown.

Yes, folks its that easy, and yummy too!

Nature's Best

Welcome to Everything's Natural and for a kickstart, I'm going to introduce some of the beauties of nature that are alot neglected by us city folks. Flee and me (Twisstii) and the rest of the silent crew had the opportunity to visit one of the most wonderfully populated and yet isolated beach spending a few inspiring moments with the residents on the beach.Here's a warm welcome....

Carpet Anemones
Carpet Anemones (Order Actiniaria, Stichodactyla) are very much similar to jellyfishes and corals. Found in various sizes, on the sandy and coral populated areas, they feed on microscopic particles trapped onto their "brocolli- like" bodies. Occasionally, they also feed on any unfortunate animal that ventures into their stinging tentacles. During the trip, silent crew no.1 even noticed a parts of a crab half devoured.. poor soul. They also come in a variety of colours, from amazing lime green to violet.During low tides, oral disk in the middle of the anemone reduces in size and retains water to minimise the area exposed.

Peacock Anemones

Peacock Anemones( Order Ceriantharia, Family Cerianthidae) have long and short tentacles that are exposed during low tides. These tentacles are also the means of sourcing for food,gathering food from the water towards the mouth in the centre. The Peacock Anemone does not have an anus (no joke..) therefore any unwanted food is gotten rid of through the same mouth as well. Like Carpet Anemones, they also come in dazzling palette of colours.

Sea Stars

Sea Stars(Class Asteroidea) stay very well camouflaged in the sands of the beach, therefore one has to be really cautious when setting foot on particular areas. Sea Stars are symmetrical along five axes, using "tube" like feet to walk and breathe. Their bodies are made up of tissues which properties changes at will. Like the lizard, they are able to drop off part of their arm to escape their predators. They feed on particles of waste or dung and even mussels, spreading their stomach out of their mouths.

Button shell

Button shells are found buried in the sand, only reaching out its eyes and tentacle to forrage for food. When disturbed, these small but mighty shells gives a spiralling leap and buries itself into the sand again. Empty shells are also popular hangout places of hermit crabs, providing them with a safe and secure home away from predators.

Like all good things that have to come to an end, Mother nature presented to us a breathtaking view of the sunset...till next time!
